To mark the New Year, people celebrated it with friends and families with lanterns and fireworks. Fires incidents were reported in many different areas of Dhaka after the new year celebration started.
Fire incidents were reported in Lalbagh, Adabor, Fakirapool, and Sadarghat area.
The incidents were caused by flying lanterns (fanus) and luckily there were no casualties, they had been put out immediately, sources at the Fire Service said.
