Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Additional Commissioner Mohammad Rashidul Islam Khan has been withdrawn from his current post following controversy over remarks made in a video that recently went viral on social media.
The order was issued through a notification from Police Headquarters on Saturday, directing the senior police officer to hand over his responsibilities and report to headquarters.
According to the directive, Rashidul Islam Khan has been instructed to leave his current assignment at Khulna Metropolitan Police and join the Police Headquarters by June 21.
The decision comes days after a video clip featuring comments made by the officer during an interaction with local residents in the Mohirbari Khalpar area under Lobonchora Police Station circulated widely online.
The footage, which lasted around 25 seconds, quickly drew attention on social media platforms and triggered criticism over part of the officer`s remarks.
Following the spread of the video, the comments became the subject of public discussion and debate, leading to growing controversy.
Mohammad Rashidul Islam Khan is a member of the Bangladesh Civil Service (Police) cadre and had been serving as Additional Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police before the latest transfer order.
Police authorities have not publicly disclosed any further details regarding the decision.
