Dengue claims 3 more lives, 512 hospitalised in 24 hours

Three more people have died from dengue in the past 24 hours, while 512 new patients were admitted to hospitals across Bangladesh, pushing the country‍‍`s death toll and caseload higher this year.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the latest deaths, reported in Chattogram and Rajshahi divisions, raised the nationwide death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 47 this year.

The DGHS said 512 fresh dengue patients were hospitalised during the 24-hour period ending at 8:00am on Tuesday.

During the same period, 532 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals.

Since the beginning of the year, Bangladesh has recorded 14,156 dengue hospitalisations. Of them, 13,009 patients have recovered and returned home, while 1,034 remain under treatment in hospitals across the country, the DGHS said.
