Left parties half-day strike over price hike being observed

The Left Democratic Alliance (LDA) is observing a half-day strike across the nation on Thursday to protest the price increase in fuel oil, food and transportation fares.

 

The strike started at 6am and will continue till 12pm.

Mihir Ghosh, the assistant general secretary of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and the central leader of the Left Alliance, Jolly Talukder, a member of the Central Committee of the CPB, and the central leader of the United Communist League Dr. Haroon Ur Rashid took out the protest march. The procession started from Gulistan and will end at Kakrail and again return to Gulistan Chhattar.

Meanwhile, the strikers demanded to stop increasing the price of electricity and gas.

Ruhin Hossain Prince, coordinator of the Left Democratic Alliance warned that if the government does not take steps to reduce prices even after the strike, more strikes will be held in future.
