The authorities of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport has assured that the incident of stealing cash money from the luggages of SAFF Women's Championship-winning team was not occurred at the airport.
Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport authorities issued a press release signed by its Executive Director Group Captain Muhammed Kamrul Islam in this regard on Thursday.
According to the press note, the authorities after checking the records of CCTV camera footage found that no such incidents were occurred at the airport.
It read: "After noticing the media reports on the money stealing, the officials concerned of the airport checked the records of the CCTV cameras and found that no such incidents happened. All luggages were handed over to the BFF officials concerned in a good and secured state."
Earlier in the day, some members of Bangladesh football team alleged that money was stolen from their respective luggage at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag confirmed the news.
He said: "I heard two of them lost 500 dollars each and one of them lost Bangladeshi takas and Nepali rupees."
The members are Sanjida Akhtar, Krishna Rani Sarkar and Shamsunnahar Senior.
However, the location of the theft remains unknown, as of yet.
They found out the matter on Wednesday soon after the team received a grand reception upon their arrival in the country from Kathmandu.
After the Bangladesh team landed at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 1:46 pm on Wednesday, they embarked on a more than four-hour long journey from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) headquarters in Dhaka.
