Schoolgirl stabbed, grandmother and sister-in-law killed

The incident occurred around 8:30 PM on Wednesday at the Harigari area of Ward 14 in Bogura city.

In a shocking incident in Bogura, a schoolgirl was stabbed and seriously injured by a young man allegedly enraged over a rejected love proposal.

The attacker also fatally stabbed the girl‍‍`s grandmother and sister-in-law when they tried to save her.

The incident occurred around 8:30 PM on Wednesday at the Harigari area of Ward 14 in Bogura city.

The deceased have been identified as Laily Begum (65), wife of the late Abdul Kuddus, and Habiba Yasmin (21), wife of the victim’s brother Parvez Hossain. The injured girl is a 10th-grade student at a local school.

According to police and local residents, the attacker, Saikat Hossain (19), had been harassing the girl for a long time.

On Wednesday night, he entered her home and attacked her with a knife. When her grandmother and sister-in-law intervened to protect her, he stabbed them as well before attempting to flee.

Bogura Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hasan Basir confirmed that Saikat has been arrested.

Locals rushed the victims to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared Laily Begum and Habiba Yasmin dead.

The hospital‍‍`s Deputy Director, Abdul Wadud, stated that both women had multiple stab wounds from a sharp weapon.

The teenage girl underwent surgery and remains in critical condition. The bodies of the deceased have been sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
