Calling on party activists to be prepared, Awami League lawmaker from Narayanganj-4 Shamim Osman on Tuesday arrogantly said "There will be some losses, but don’t worry even a bit. Not even their fathers (those protesting) can budge Sheikh Hasina an inch. We just need to be ready."
Shamim Osman made the remark while addressing a party meeting at Chashara Rifle Club in Narayanganj, as the chief guest.
"Efforts are being made internationally to turn Bangladesh into a failed state. Why else would Mamata Banerjee say that the doors of Bengal are open and they will provide refuge to anyone who knocks? Why else would the likes of Yunus, who exploit with high interest rates, say from France that elections must be held? All forces have united against the daughter of the Father of the Nation, Sheikh Hasina. The opposition has become formidable," he stated.
He went on to add: "Tonight (Tuesday) is not normal. I repeat, tonight is not normal. Therefore, everyone must be prepared in their areas."
It is mentionable that the Anti Discrimination Students Movement, that led the quota reform protests, has announced a March for Justice programme on Wednesday at the country’s educational institutions, court premises and major roads.
The meeting was attended by Narayanganj District Awami League General Secretary Abu Hasnat Md. Shahid Badal, Metropolitan Awami League General Secretary Advocate Khokon Saha, Fatullah Awami League General Secretary Shawkat Ali, District Bar Association President Advocate Mohsin Mia, and various other leaders and activists.
