Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) has closed the ferry service on the Shimulia waterway in Munshiganj and Majhikandi in Shariatpur on the occasion of the Padma Bridge inauguration.
The ferry was closed on Friday evening for security reasons, reports our Munshiganj correspondent.
Passenger crossings will be closed throughout the day on Saturday as the ferry service on the Shimulia-Majhikandi waterway is likely to start Sunfay morning.
BIWTC's Shimulia Ghat AGM Shafiqul Islam confirmed the news.
