The government has taken an initiative to introduce electric train services on the Dhaka-Chattogram railway corridor to reduce travel time and distance between the two cities, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said.
He said the feasibility study and detailed design for installing electric traction to operate electric trains on the Dhaka-Chattogram corridor have already been completed. A detailed implementation plan and timeline will be prepared once the necessary funding is secured.
The prime minister made the remarks in a written response to a question from Mohammad Enamul Haque, a member of parliament from the Chattogram-12 constituency, during the question-and-answer session of the third sitting of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad on Wednesday.
