Vote counting for 15 halls in the Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JACSÜ) election has been completed, an election commission member said on Saturday morning.
Professor Lutful Elahi, a member of the JACSÜ Election Commission, told media around 9:30 am that counting for 15 halls had been finalized and expressed hope that the remaining halls would be completed by 1 pm.
The vote counting for the hall unions was completed earlier. Today marks the third consecutive day of counting at the university’s Senate Hall.
The timeline for completing the process has shifted multiple times. On Friday night, Chief Election Commissioner Professor Md Moniruzzaman said the results of the JACSÜ election and 21 hall union polls would be announced after the counting was completed.
Earlier, Proctor and Election Commission Member Secretary A.K.M. Rashidul Alam said on Friday evening that they expected to finish counting and release unofficial results between 10 pm and 11 pm. He had previously indicated that results might be published by Friday afternoon.
