Renowned classical singer Pandit Vijay Kumar Kichlu passed away on Friday (February 17) evening.
He took his last breath at a Kolkata hospital following breathing problem at the age of 93 years.
Pandit Vijay Kumar Kichlu was a recipient of Padma Shri and recipient of Sangit Natak Akademi award.
The hospital authorities said, “Pandit Kichlu was brought to the hospital in a gasping condition. He suffered a cardiac arrest before treatment could be started”.
The vocalist has been suffering from cardiac problems for long.
He was born in 1930. He was the founder and head of the ITC Music Research Academy for 25 years.
