3 American scientists win 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics

The 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to John Clarke, Michel Devoret, and John Martinis for their groundbreaking work on macroscopic quantum mechanical tunneling and energy quantization in electrical circuits.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced the winners on Tuesday at 3:45 p.m. Bangladesh time from Stockholm, Sweden.

The three laureates will share a gold medal, a diploma, and a total prize sum of 11 million Swedish kronor (approximately USD 1.2 million or BDT 14.6 crore). In cases of multiple winners, the prize money is divided among them.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences annually announces the Nobel Prizes in Physics and Chemistry, while the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm awards the prize in Physiology or Medicine.
