Acclaimed actress Jaya Ahsan is continuing her dynamic career across both Bangladesh and India, with her upcoming film ‘Dear Maa’ scheduled for release in India on July 18.
The official poster and release date were recently announced at an event in Kolkata, attended by the film’s cast and crew, including director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury and Jaya Ahsan.
‘Dear Maa’ tells an emotional story centered on motherhood, family, and the intricate relationships between a mother and her child.
In the film, Jaya Ahsan takes on the pivotal role of the mother, while other notable cast members include Saswata Chatterjee, Dhritiman Chatterjee, and Chandan Roy Sanyal.
Speaking about the project, Jaya Ahsan expressed, “Dear Maa is about motherhood and the deep, layered relationship between a mother and daughter. It unfolds within a gripping thriller that also touches on the sensitive theme of child adoption.”
This marks another significant collaboration between Jaya and director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, who is well-known for his critically acclaimed films such as ‘Anuranan,’ ‘Antaheen,’ and ‘Aparajita Tumi.’
After establishing himself in both Bengali and Hindi cinema with popular works like ‘Pink’ and ‘Lost,’ Aniruddha returns to Bengali films with ‘Dear Maa’ after a long break.
Meanwhile, Jaya Ahsan has also begun working on her next project in the Bengali film industry.
She is currently filming ‘Aaj-o Ardhagini’, the sequel to the successful film ‘Ardhagini’ directed by Kaushik Ganguly.
The sequel revisits the complex dynamics between a man’s former and current wives, a narrative that originally captivated audiences in the first installment.
