Siam to sue online news portals posting fabricated stories

Popular Bangladeshi actor Siam Ahmed took to his verified Facebook fan page on August 8 and denounced the recent fabricated news some online portals are publishing on him. The actor, who is also a lawyer with the law firm Kazi Halim & Associates, claimed in the lengthy post that he denounces such journalism and will take necessary legal actions against these people and companies.  

The actor stated: “In recent times, some people and some so-called online portals have been spreading various lies, starting from mythical stories about me online, mentioning my name. Needless to say, all these myths, lies and filth have no basis at all.”

“Apparently these are fake statements and spreading them are defamatory and at the same time violates various sections and sub-sections of cybercrime law in Bangladesh. All these false defamatory statements, rumours have damaged me in all personal, family, social aspects and I am shocked and amazed at this whole thing,” he added.

He then wrote that he has “take action against all those who have been involved in these defamatory activities so far in accordance with the existing laws of Bangladesh” and went on to point out the Digital Security Act-2016.

He further urged his fans and well-wishers “to take a strong stand against these cyberbullies and say ‘no’ to cyberbullying of all forms.

Siam made his debut as ‘Afnan’ in a Bangladeshi telefilm titled ‘Bhalobasha 101.’ He is best known for his debut role in the Jaaz Multimedia produced film ‘Pora Mon 2.’ He recently received a lot of praise for his role in the Chorki original series ‘Morichika.’

He was last seen alongside Pori Moni in the hit film ‘Bishwoshundori,’ directed by Chayanika Chowdhury.
