Infrastructure development works for establishing sports school in Rajshahi under Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) are going to start as soon as possible. A site of 17 acres of land has already been selected at Khirshin area under Paba Upazila in the district for setting up the sports school.
Youth and Sports Secretary Mesbah Uddin visited the site on Tuesday afternoon. He also distributed bank cheques valued at Taka 59 lakh among 23 affected owners whose lands were acquired for the project as compensation with Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil in the chair.
Commissioner of Rajshahi division GSM Zafarullah, BKSP Director Anwar Hossain, Additional Deputy Commissioner Shariful Haque and Paba Upazila Nirbahi Officer Lasmi Chakma were present.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Mesbah Uddin said requisite lands were already acquired and hoped that infrastructure development works will be completed within June next.
He told the audience that BKSP`s sports schools are being established in all the eight divisional headquarters simultaneously as per the inspiration and direction of the Prime Minister.
He also said there will be training facilities for 17 sports events side by side with normal curriculum here and the coaches from home and abroad will generate competent players.
