Colombia became the final team to secure a place in the FIFA World Cup Round of 16 after defeating Ghana 1-0 on Friday despite missing several chances to extend their lead.
Jhon Arias scored the only goal of the match in the 14th minute as Colombia dominated proceedings at Arrowhead Stadium to set up a last-16 clash with Switzerland in Vancouver on Tuesday.
Ghana threatened early when Thomas Partey fired narrowly wide inside the opening minute, but the African side struggled to create meaningful opportunities for the rest of the match.
Colombia suffered an early setback after Jhon Córdoba was forced off with an apparent groin injury and was replaced by Luis Suárez.
Ghana also made an early substitution after Marvin Senaya was injured, with Alidu Seidu coming on.
The breakthrough came when Suárez battled down the right wing before delivering a cross that Arias calmly converted from close range.
Backed by a vocal Colombian crowd, the South Americans controlled possession and repeatedly tested Ghana`s defence but failed to add to their advantage.
Luis Díaz missed a clear chance before halftime, while Ghana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi produced an excellent save to deny Johan Mojica just before the break.
Colombia continued to waste opportunities in the second half. Díaz had a goal ruled out for offside and later fired straight at Zigi, while Juan Quintero also went close late in the game.
Ghana, who had scored only twice during the group stage, failed to register a single shot on target throughout the match as their World Cup campaign came to an end.
The victory completed the Round-of-16 lineup, with Colombia advancing to face Switzerland in the next stage of the tournament.
