After a decade-long relationship, Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez have finally tied the knot. The couple got married in an intimate ceremony on Tuesday in Cascais, a coastal city in Portugal.
Ronaldo’s representatives confirmed the marriage. Brunswick Group, which handles his public relations, told AFP that the couple’s five children were present at the private family ceremony.
Ronaldo broke the news through a post on social media. On Tuesday night, Bangladesh time, he shared a photo of his hand resting on Georgina’s, with wedding rings visible on both their ring fingers. The caption featured heart emojis along with the initials “C❤️G.” The post effectively confirmed the marriage for their fans.
Exactly one year earlier, on August 11, 2025, Georgina had announced their engagement. She had shared a photo of her hand resting on Ronaldo’s, showing a large ring on her finger. A year later, the same hands were joined in marriage.
For weeks, Portuguese media had speculated about the possible location of the wedding. Sintra, outside Lisbon, and Madeira, Ronaldo’s birthplace, were among the places mentioned. At one point, reports even claimed the couple would marry at a church in Funchal, Madeira, prompting hundreds of people to gather there. It was later confirmed that no Ronaldo-Georgina ceremony had been scheduled at the church.
The couple ultimately chose Cascais, about 30 kilometres west of Lisbon, for their wedding. They also own a villa in the city.
Ronaldo and Georgina met in 2016, when Georgina was working as a sales assistant at a Gucci store in Madrid. That was where their relationship began. Georgina has described it as “love at first sight.” They made their first public appearance together in January 2017 at the FIFA Best Football Awards. In May that year, Ronaldo officially acknowledged their relationship on social media.
Since then, they have become one of the world’s most closely followed celebrity couples. Together, they have more than 750 million followers on social media. Beyond football, they have also invested in areas including fashion and the hotel business.
Ronaldo’s eldest son, Cristiano Jr., was born in 2010. Ronaldo has never publicly disclosed the identity of his mother. In 2017, he became the father of twins, Eva Maria and Mateo, through surrogacy. Later that year, Georgina gave birth to their daughter, Alana Martina.
In 2022, Georgina gave birth to twins, but their son, Ángel, died shortly after birth. Their daughter, Bella, remains with the family.
After years of love, children and family life together, Ronaldo and Georgina are now officially husband and wife.
