Cristiano Ronaldo on Tuesday ( 3 january) has accidentally hailed his move to ‘South Africa’ and not Saudi Arabia during his first Al-Nassr press conference.
Ronaldo, 37, has been officially unveiled after signing a two-and-a-half year contract with the Riyadh-based club worth a reported £177million a year. Before being presented to the fans in an open training session, he faced the media.
But he suffered a slip of the tongue as he said “For me it`s not the end of my career to come into South Africa, this is what I want to change and to be honest I don`t really worry about what the people say.”
The five-time Ballon d`Or winner claimed he had several offers from around the globe, including many from Europe - despite failing to find a Champions League club who were interested in signing him.
Naturally, viewers were quick to pounce on the error and give him some stick. One tweeted “Ronaldo said South Africa instead of Saudi Arabia during his interview. Blud doesn`t even know where he is.”
Another joked “Did Cristiano Ronaldo just call Saudi Arabia..South Africa..they bout to come after him.”
