Despite having a shaky start, Manchester United has really made a comeback and are now one of the front runners in the run for the Premier League this season. Just a year ago, they were barely in midtable by this time of the year. Yet this season, they have turned things around. Thanks to the scoring abilities of Bruno Fernandez, United are cruising towards the top of the league.
Ole Gunnar Solskjær would be happy with his team’s performance. After the disappointing draw against Arsenal, United grooved back in form with a 9-0 thrashing on Wednesday’s match against Southampton.
The match started to go downhill for Southampton in the very beginning of the match when Alexandre Jankewitz made a harsh challenge on McTominay. Match official Mike Dean showed a red card on the 2nd minute of the match.
Southampton put up a good fight but they were outnumbered and just could not hold their own against the attacking prowess of Manchester United. Anthony Martial scored a brace. Cavanni, Rashford, Bruno Fernandez, Wan-Bissaka, McTominay and Daniel James each got one to their tally.
United were helped even further by Southampton defender Jan Bednarek who not only scored an own goal but also conceded another red card.
As it stands after the match, Manchester United are level on points with Manchester City but City remains on top with two matches in hand.
