Joy Bangla Youth Award winners--Rahat Hossain Pollob and Hemanta Sadeeq--have been honoured at the Global Youth Parliament Summit.
They received the awards for their outstanding contribution to various social activities in developing youths.
The awards were handed over to them at the summit organised by Global Youth Parliament on June 24.
Rahat Hossain along with his group members organises blood group detection programme free of cost for the ultra-poor from his area.
He also teaches and offers scholarships to children from disadvantaged communities.
After receiving recognition from Young Bangla, he formed an organisation named Social Organisation and Youth Network to further continue his activities.
Hemanta Sadeeq is the founding member and president of Cinema Bangladesh. Cinema Bangladesh is the organiser of "Global Youth Film Festival Bangladesh", and have hosted five film festivals in different districts till now to bring out young talents of rural areas.
This year they are planning to arrange this festival at Cox's Bazar to attract foreign producers and distributors.
Their film "Sholte" – shot on mobile phone – is participating in an Oscar-qualifying festival.
Hemanta has received "The Global Emerging Leader Award" from Global Youth Leadership Summit 2022 held in Bangkok, Thailand.
Since its inception, the highest recognition for young Bangladeshi achievers – "Joy Bangla Youth Award" – selects a pool of youths who silently transform their communities through a wide range of activities, from educating underprivileged children to helping distressed people to stopping child marriage.
"Joy Bangla Youth Award" is a flagship initiative of Young Bangla under auspices of CRI.
