The death toll following the explosion at a steel mill in Narayanganj's Rupganj upazila has risen to five, after the death of another victim early today.
Golam Rabbani, 35, of Lalmonirhat district, died at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, said, Inspector Bachchu Mia, in charge of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost.
Resident surgeon of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, Dr. SM Ayub Hussain confirmed his death to the media.
He said, "Six persons from the Rupganj area were rushed to the emergency department following boiler explosions. Another victim, Golam Rabbani, died while receiving treatment on Friday night. 95 percent of his body has been burned. Previously, four individuals died in this incident. So far, five of the six have died."
Seven workers were injured in an explosion at the factory on Thursday afternoon while they were melting iron.
