9 markets and shopping malls including Gausia, Rajdhani Super Market, Barisal Plaza in Bangbazar are in 'high risk' condition in the capital. A warning letter has also been given to these markets that a major fire may occur at any time.
Director of Fire Service and Civil Defense (Operations and Maintenance), Lieutenant Colonel Md. Tajul Islam Chowdhury provided this information.
After the terrible fire in Bangabazar and New Super Market, the fire service has listed 58 markets and shopping malls in the capital as a fire hazard. 9 markets have been identified as 'extremely high risk' in the fire danger list. Besides, 14 markets have been placed in the 'moderate risk' and 35 markets in the 'high risk' list.
In a press conference held at the Fire Service and Civil Defense Headquarters, Tajul Islam said that all the 58 buildings in the capital that have been identified as 'risky' are commercial.
