The Bangladesh government has decided to extend the ongoing school closure for two more weeks in a bid to ensure the safety of students amid the unprecedented surge in cases and fatalities.
MA Khair, a spokesperson for the ministry of education revealed the matter on Wednesday evening.
With no improvement in sight regarding the Covid-19 situation in the country, the education minister Dr. Dipu Moni took the decision regarding extension of school closure, he added.
The government shut all educational institutions across the country to contain the surge in Covid-19 cases on January 21.
Initially, the authorities announced that schools would remain close till February 6.
