State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury commented that the digitalization project of Bhomra land port will play an important role in building a smart Bangladesh by 2041 under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He said this as the chief guest during the official inauguration of the project titled `Digitalization of the Border Procedures at Bhomra Landport` at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the capital on Monday.
State Minister for Shipping said, "Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Bangladesh Land Port Authority is working continuously to facilitate international trade by land. With the completion of this project, a new benchmark has been established for expanding technology-based commercial activities and connectivity with neighboring countries.”
The Bangladesh Land Port Authority will implement the project with funding from the Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation (GATF) and the collaboration of the Swiss Foundation for Technical Cooperation (Swisscontact).
This will save time and money in transporting goods and passengers. The duration of the scheme is from 1 January to 31 October 2023. Seven crore taka will be spent on the implementation of the project. This money will be available as a sanction.
Under the directory of Md. Alamgir, Chairman of Bangladesh Land Port Authority--Secretary of the Ministry of Shipping Md. Mostafa Kamal, Director of the Swiss Foundation for Technical Cooperation (Swisscontact) Ms. Stephanie Dreifuss, Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation (GATF) Director Phlippe Isler, Mujibul Hasan, Country Director of Swisscontact and, Project Director DM Atiqur Rahman, spoke among others.
In the event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the A2I program and Bangladesh Land Port Authority to accept land port facility charges and other charges through ``Ekpay`` and accept land port facility charges and other charges through ``BKash`` QR code.
