An explosion occurred at the main gate of the Barishal District and Judge Court on Wednesday morning, triggering panic across the court premises. No casualties were reported.

The explosion took place at around 10:45am, producing a loud bang that alarmed people seeking services at the court. Soon after the incident, a special law enforcement team cordoned off the area, while police and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) began working to determine the nature and source of the explosive object.

A police officer stationed at the court’s main gate said a loud bang was suddenly heard beside the gate in the morning. Pieces of glass, along with mud and dirt, were scattered by the blast. Although the incident caused panic, no one was injured, he said.

The lawyers alleged that the incident may have been carried out by fugitive “fascists” to create panic among the public. They called for a proper investigation and appropriate action against those responsible.

Lawyers at the Barishal District Judge Court also noted that a bomb explosion occurred in Bakerganj, Barishal, on August 3. They said the latest incident at the court premises had raised concerns about what they described as a deep conspiracy against the government, and urged the administration to take the matter seriously.

Barishal Metropolitan Police Commissioner Abu Raihan Mohammad Saleh said it would be possible to determine after investigation whether the object was a cocktail bomb or something resembling a firecracker. CCTV footage is being reviewed to identify those involved, he said.

The police official added that additional police personnel have been deployed at the court premises.
