A gas cylinder explosion in Ashulia, Savar, has claimed the lives of four people, with the most recent victim being a 4-year-old child named Soayed. 

The child, who was severely burned in the explosion, passed away on Saturday at approximately 1:30 PM in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

Soayed’s uncle, Mohammad Jonny, spoke emotionally about the tragedy, saying, "In this fire, the child‍‍`s mother, Sharmin, and father, Sumon, passed away while receiving treatment just a few days ago. Now, this afternoon, we lost Soayed. Sumon‍‍`s elder sister, Shiuli, also succumbed to her injuries."

Dr. Shaon Bin Rahman, a resident doctor at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, confirmed Soayed‍‍`s death, explaining that, "On the night of Friday, 11 people, including women and children, were brought to our hospital from Savar with severe burns. Soayed had sustained 27% burn injuries and passed away this afternoon while still under treatment."

Dr. Rahman also mentioned that four individuals had been discharged from the hospital so far, while three others remain hospitalized.

"Among those still here, Monir Hossain has 20% burns, Surya Banu has 7%, and Zahura Begum has 5% burns," he added.

The tragic incident occurred on the night of February 21, around 10:00 PM, when a gas leak triggered a fire at the house of Amjad Bepari in the Gomail area of Ashulia. 

Those injured were immediately rushed to the emergency department of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery by 1:30 AM.

The victims include Surya Banu (45), Zahura Begum (70), Mohammad Monir Hossain (45), Sohel (38), Sumon Mia (32), Shiuli Akter (32), Sharmin (35), Chamin Mahmud (15), Mahadi (7), and Suraiya (3).

This incident has left the community in shock, with many raising concerns about gas safety and preventive measures.
