The flash floods currently affecting eleven districts have impacted over 4.9 million people and resulted in 18 deaths, as reported by the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.
During a press conference in Dhaka on Saturday (August 24) Disaster Management Secretary Kamrul Hasan provided an update, noting that the flood conditions are starting to improve.
Secretary Hasan detailed that the floods have affected 4,938,159 people and 944,548 families across the impacted areas.
The fatalities include four in Cumilla, one in Feni, five in Chattogram, three in Noakhali, one in Brahmanbaria, one in Lakshmipur, and three in Cox`s Bazar.
In response, 3,527 shelters have been established, accommodating 284,888 individuals.
Relief efforts are underway with a budget of Tk 3.52 crore, including 20,150 tonnes of rice and 15,000 packets of dry and other food supplies.
Additionally, Tk 35 lakh has been allocated for baby food and another Tk 35 lakh for cattle feed.
