Heavy rainfall likely in country

Moderate to heavy rainfall is likely to occur in five divisions on Thursday.

According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), due to the peripheral effect of the cyclonic storm Asani, moderate to heavy rainfall is likely to occur at places over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, Dhaka and Sylhet divisions.

The severe cyclonic storm Asani over West Central Bay of Bengal and adjoining area moved northwest, weakened into a cyclonic storm, and now lies over the Andhra coast and adjoining West Central Bay.

It is likely to move in a north or north-eastern direction and weaken gradually into a deep depression during the next 12 hours, the BMD said in the evening.

The day and night temperature may remain unchanged over the country, it added.
