The second publication ceremony of 'Father of the Nation Bangabandhu', a comic book in the form of Japanese painting 'Manga', on the struggling life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was held in Tokyo on Sunday marking the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh-Japan friendship.
The program was held at the Bangladesh Embassy auditorium in Tokyo. Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Shahabuddin Ahmed was present at the ceremony as the chief guest.
Ambassador Shahabuddin Ahmed said, “Bangabandhu's contribution to Bangladesh has been beautifully highlighted with pictures and descriptions in the book 'Father of the Nation Bangabandhu.”
Children and teenagers will get to know Bangabandhu as well as the history of Bangladesh's independence by reading the book, he added.
Tokyo-based writer and journalist Manjurul Haque said that there has never been such a comic book about Bangabandhu. The comic book, published in three languages, will attract the youth of Bangladesh as well as the Japanese youth.
Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Iwama Kiminori said, "It is a great thing to publish this manga comic book on Bangabandhu during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to Japan. This adds another dimension to Bangladesh-Japan's friendly relations.”
Shikha Murakami, Head of Bangla Radio Division of Japan Broadcasting Corporation, ME Chowdhury Shamim, author and publisher of the book and founder of Scholars Bangladesh Society, and Yemoto Kieta, CEO of Shine Partners Corporation Japan, were present as special guests at the programme.
Scholars Bangladesh Society founder ME Chowdhury Shamim and advisor Engineer Golam Mohammad Alamgir handed over the book to visiting Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her sister at Akasaka Palace in Tokyo on Friday.
Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen and Japanese Ambassador to Dhaka Iwama Kiminori unveiled the book in Dhaka on April 5.
