Khaled Hasan, the co-coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement and a student of the Arabic Department at Dhaka University, has been found after being missing for four days.
He returned to Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall around 11:30 PM on Tuesday, December 24, and was escorted to his room by fellow students.
The news of his disappearance had led to fears that he had been abducted.
Abdul Kader, the coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, spoke to the media at 12:45 AM on December 24, confirming this claim.
"He (Khaled Hasan) is too scared to say anything. When I spoke to him privately, he told me about his abduction," Abdul Kader said.
Khaled explained his terrifying ordeal. He recounted that on Friday, December 20, while traveling in a rickshaw from TSC to Doel Chattar, he suddenly lost consciousness for an unknown reason.
When he regained his senses, he was in a microbus near a petrol pump in Sunamganj, with 2-3 unknown people accompanying him. He passed out again shortly after.
When he regained consciousness the second time, he found himself in a moving microbus somewhere in Panchagarh.
The third time, he woke up beside a road in Barisal. A person then helped him into a car, and he was finally able to return to Dhaka.
Abdul Kader shared that Khaled`s mental condition was not good, and he had trouble speaking clearly. "We have taken him to Dhaka Medical College," he said.
Professor Dr. Md. Faruk Shah, the Provost of Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall, also spoke about Khaled’s condition.
"I spoke to Khaled. He wants to speak, but he is too scared to do so. He looks very weak. When I brought a doctor, it was revealed that his blood pressure had increased," he mentioned.
He added, "He is being taken to Dhaka Medical College. Once he is in better health, he will be able to share the full details of what happened."
