Two more workers died in Dhaka after being burned in an explosion at a steel mill in Narayanganj's Rupganj upazila yesterday afternoon.
Elias Ali alias Yeasin, 35, and Niyon, 20, died while receiving treatment at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. Inspector Bachchu Mia, in charge of the DMCH police outpost, said that Elias died last night and Niyon died this morning.
According to inspectors quoting doctors, Elias had 97 percent burns while Niyon had 95 percent burns.
So far, three workers have died as a result of the incident. Shankar, another worker, had died from his injuries earlier.
Four more people, who were badly burned during the explosion at Rahima Industrial Complex Limited Steel Mill, are in critical condition.
The injured workers are Jewel, 25, Golam Rabbi, 35, Ibrahim, 35, and Alamgir, 33.
According to hospital authorities, Jewel had 97 percent burns, Rabbi had 95 percent burns, Alamgir had 90 percent injuries, and Ibrahim had 28 percent burns.
When the explosion occurred in the factory's furnace, about 15 people were there, spilling molten iron on their bodies.
