The government of Bangladesh has started the process of bringing back the Bangladeshis staying in Sudan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs gave this information.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, there are about 1,500 Bangladeshis in Sudan. Among them, about 700 Bangladeshis have expressed their urge to return to the country.
According to the notice, currently there is a ceasefire between the two forces, but there are reports of occasional clashes in different places even during the ceasefire. The stranded Bangladeshis will first be brought back from Khartoum to Port Sudan and from Port Sudan to Port Jeddah. Arrangements are being made to bring these Bangladeshis to Dhaka by Bangladesh Biman flights from Jeddah.
The Saudi government has promised to provide free Saudi Navy ships to transport Bangladeshis from Port Sudan to Port Jeddah. It is expected to be possible to bring all Bangladeshis to Port Sudan by May 2. The ambassador is currently in Port Sudan for discussions to finalize the matter. The Bangladeshis are expected to reach Jeddah by May 3 or 4.
On the eve of the Prime Minister's visit to Japan, she ordered to consider the matter with utmost importance.
The notice also said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is determined to bring back Sudanese expatriates safely and in the shortest possible time.
About one and a half thousand Bangladeshis are trapped in the conflict in the country. Those among them who want to return to the country have been asked to contact the hotline number of the Bangladesh Embassy in Khartoum.

Earlier on Wednesday, the charge of the affairs of the Bangladesh Mission in Sudan, Tarek Ahmed said, "The security and safety situation is still unstable in the area where the Bangladesh Embassy and Bangladesh House are located. Our personnel have not been able to enter the embassy premises so far. Arrangements are being made to evacuate the expatriate Bangladeshis in Sudan."
State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shahriar Alam said that it has been decided to start the process of bringing Bangladeshi citizens staying in Sudan safely back to Bangladesh through other countries. The Bangladesh Embassy in Khartoum has already started spreading this message among the Bangladeshis staying there. Bangladeshis staying in Sudan will be brought back.
