Complaints have been lodged against three people, including Dhaka University Professor Emeritus Serajul Islam Chowdhury, for defaming Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The two others accused in the case are writer Neshar Ahmed and littérateur Rashed Rauf.
Nazim Uddin Shujon, a resident of Mollapara in Agrabad, filed the complaint with the Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate court on Tuesday (October 19). The court has fixed next Sunday for hearing the case.
The case alleges that Prof. Serajul Islam disrespected Bangabandhu in a book titled 'Father of the Nation' published by Chittagong Academy. In several parts in the book, derogatory sentences and words have been used to talk about Bangabandhu. Thus, the case was filed in the court.
Confirming the matter, the plaintiff's lawyer Shahida Noor said that the court has fixed next Sunday for issuing the order after hearing the case filed against Bangabandhu for insulting him.
"We have complained to the court," he added. But there was no hearing in the court. The matter will be heard on October 24. Whether the case will be accepted or not will be known on that day.
