Singer Mainul Ahsan Noble has been arrested by police in connection with serious allegations of rape, physical abuse, and blackmail.
He was taken into custody early Tuesday morning around 2 AM from the Demra area of Dhaka, following a police raid.
According to Demra Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahmudur Rahman, Noble allegedly kept a female college student confined in a rented flat for seven months.
The victim, reportedly a student of Eden College, was lured to meet Noble in Gulshan last November under the pretext of marriage.
Subsequently, she was taken to a flat in Demra, where she was allegedly detained and repeatedly raped and abused.
OC Mahmudur Rahman stated that Noble also recorded videos of the assaults on his phone and used the footage to blackmail the victim.
Recently, a video went viral showing Noble dragging a woman down the stairs. The woman in the video was later identified as the same victim.
After seeing the footage online, the victim’s parents traveled from Tangail to Dhaka to uncover the full situation.
On Monday night, the victim was rescued following a call to the national emergency hotline, 999.
Police raided the flat in Demra at around 10 PM, but Noble had fled before they arrived. He was later tracked down using technology and arrested at around 2 AM.
Police further revealed that Noble had plans to escape the country via the border and had already rented a microbus for the purpose. Fortunately, he was apprehended before he could flee.
OC Mahmudur Rahman confirmed that a case has been filed against Noble under charges of rape, abuse, and under the Pornography Control Act, due to the videos he allegedly recorded and used for blackmail.
This is not Noble’s first encounter with law enforcement. In 2023, he was previously arrested in a fraud-related case. Noble first rose to fame through his appearance on the Indian music reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, which aired on Zee Bangla.
