Three burnt alive in Turag house fire

In a shocking turn of events, three teenegers including two girls have died in a fire that gutted at house in Turag, on the outskirts of Dhaka.

The bodies of Md Jahangir, 19, Ruma Akter, 17 and Afrin, 14, were recovered from the house owned by one Suruj Miah, erected on khas land near Manik Slum at Chandalbhog area, police said.

Confirming the casualties, Sub-inspector Sajal Kumar Roy of Turag police station said the bodies were recovered at around 4:30am on Tuesday.

"Primarily, we doubt an electric shortcircuit caused the fire," he told reporters.

Three units of Uttara Fire Station doused the blaze that sparked in the tin-shed two-room house.

The bodies were later handed over to police, who sent those the morgue of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
