Window for job in Malaysia opened, MoU inked

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been inked between Bangladesh and Malaysia to recruit Bangladeshi workers.

The MoU was signed at Kuala Lumpur at 11am local time on Sunday (December 19), a press release sent by the Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment said.

The Minister for Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Imran Ahmed and Malaysia's Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M Saravanan signed in the memorandum, the press release read.

Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment ministry secretary Munirus Salehin, Bangladesh high commissioner to Malaysia Md. Golam Sarwar and Deputy Secretary of Malaysia's Human Resources Ministry Datuk Muhammad Khair Azzaman Bin Mohammad Anuar, BMET director general Shahidul Alam and other high ups of both countries were present during the signing ceremony.

According to the press release, Malaysia suspended the recruitment of Bangladeshi workers in October 2018. The two states held multiple meetings to revive the labour market. Finally the deal was agreed after relentless efforts by the ministry and Bangladesh high commission in Malaysia.
