Woman dies in Badda gas leak explosion

A gas leak explosion on the ground floor of a building on DIT Road in Badda has resulted in the death of Shanta, a 27-year-old woman. She succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Ddhaka.

Shanta, originally from Kuliarchar in Kishoreganj district, passed away around 1:45 PM on Sunday. She had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with severe burns covering 35% of her body.

Confirming the incident, Dr. Tarikul Islam, a resident surgeon at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, stated, "Shanta was admitted to our institute on Thursday morning with burns. Despite our best efforts, she passed away today while undergoing treatment in the ICU."

Shanta‍‍`s husband, Nasir Howlader, recounted the tragic event: "On Thursday morning, I left home after prayers. Suddenly, I heard a loud explosion and rushed back to find my wife severely burned. With the help of the fire service, I immediately took her to the Sheikh Hasina Burn Institute."

The explosion also claimed the life of a young man named Solaiman, who worked at a nearby hotel.
