Four deer have reportedly died while being shifted to Bogura TMSS (Thengamara Mohila Sangha), an animal rearing sanctuary centre, from the National Zoo in Dhaka on Sunday.
Sources said the TMSS authorities purchased five deer from the authorities concerned of National Zoo after exchanging Tk 50,000 per deer following the necessary process.
The TMSS authority alleged that the authorities concerned of the national zoo neither provided any assistance nor any advice in transporting the deer.
The deer were made unconscious through punishing injection before being transported but after reaching in Bogura, four declared dead as they failed to regain consciousness of the deer.
Dr Abdus Samad, Sadar upazila livestock officer, said on information, they visited the sanctuary and confirmed the death of four deer.
Earlier, on May 28, six spotted deer were brought in the same way from the national zoo but two of them died after getting out from the zoo while another died on the way to Bogura.
Besides, peacocks and sheep are being reared in the TMSS and the authorities have taken a plan to bring monkeys at the sanctuary centre.
