The dengue situation in Bangladesh has worsened, with eight more deaths reported within 24 hours till Sunday morning, bringing the total fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease this year to 364.
During the same period, 778 new patients were admitted to hospitals, taking the total number of dengue cases in 2025 to 90,264, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Three of the recent deaths were reported in the Mymensingh division, two in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and one each in Barishal, Dhaka, and Chattogram divisions.
Of this year’s dengue patients, 37.7 percent were female and 62.3 percent male. Among the deceased, 51.9 percent were men and 48.1 percent were women.
By comparison, last year dengue claimed 575 lives, with 101,214 cases reported and 100,040 patients recovering during the same period.
