Three more people have died from dengue in the country in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of dengue-related deaths in Bangladesh this year to 50. During the same period, 534 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals.
The information was revealed in the regular dengue report released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday.
According to the report, one person each died of dengue in Barishal, Mymensingh, and the Dhaka South City Corporation area over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths during the period to three.
The highest number of new dengue patients requiring hospitalisation was reported in Dhaka Division, with 131 cases. Other areas reported 71 new patients in Chattogram Division, 68 in Barishal Division, 65 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 56 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 45 in Khulna Division, 37 in Mymensingh Division, 30 in Rajshahi Division, 26 in Rangpur Division, and five in Sylhet Division.
According to DGHS data, a total of 50 people have died from dengue in Bangladesh from January 1 to Wednesday this year. Of them, 23 deaths were recorded in Dhaka Division, including the two city corporation areas.
Meanwhile, Mymensingh, Khulna, and Barishal divisions reported six dengue deaths each, accounting for 18 deaths combined. Chattogram Division recorded five deaths, Rajshahi Division three, and Rangpur Division one.
