China evacuates nearly 800 citizens from Iran as regional tensions escalate

Beijing announced on Wednesday that nearly 800 Chinese nationals have been successfully evacuated from Iran following Israel‍‍`s recent military strikes against the country.

Foreign ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun stated at a regular press briefing that "791 Chinese nationals have been relocated from Iran to safe areas."

He added that evacuation efforts are ongoing, with "more than 1,000 other people in the process of relocating and withdrawing." Guo also confirmed that some Chinese citizens have safely evacuated from Israel.

China expressed gratitude to the countries that provided assistance during the evacuation process. "China expresses its thanks to the relevant countries for providing full support and assistance," Guo said.

Meanwhile, Japan has begun preparations to deploy a military aircraft to Djibouti as part of efforts to evacuate Japanese nationals from both Iran and Israel, according to Fuji Television Network.

The evacuations come amid escalating hostilities in the region. On Wednesday, Iran claimed to have launched hypersonic missiles at Israel in a fresh wave of overnight strikes.

This exchange follows former U.S. President Donald Trump‍‍`s call for Iran‍‍`s "unconditional surrender."

Trump has maintained that the United States is not directly involved in Israel‍‍`s bombing campaign but has warned Iran that his patience is "wearing thin" as the conflict stretches into its sixth day.

International leaders continue to seek diplomatic solutions to prevent the fighting from escalating into a broader regional war.
