Hezbollah’s Deputy Chief, Naim Qassem, has made it clear that his group is ready to respond to any Israeli violations of the Lebanon ceasefire, even before the 60-day deadline for Israel’s withdrawal expires.

The fragile ceasefire, which took effect on November 27 after two months of intense fighting, has been plagued by accusations of violations from both sides.

Qassem said, "We have said that we are giving an opportunity to prevent Israeli violations and to implement the agreement and we will exercise patience." However, he stressed that this does not mean they will wait the full 60 days. "This does not mean that we will wait the 60 days."

He added, "The leadership of the resistance determines when to exercise patience, when to take initiative and when to respond."

Under the terms of the ceasefire, the Lebanese army is supposed to deploy alongside UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon, while Israeli forces begin their 60-day withdrawal. Hezbollah, meanwhile, is required to move its fighters north of the Litani River, about 30 kilometers (20 miles) from the border, and dismantle any remaining military infrastructure in the south.

A special committee, which includes representatives from Israel, Lebanon, France, the United States, and the UN peacekeeping force (UNIFIL), will be responsible for monitoring the ceasefire and addressing any violations that may occur.
