Iran fires missiles at Israel, killing 10, following strikes on oil facilities

Flames rise from an oil storage facility after it was struck by an Israeli missile in Tehran, Iran, early Sunday.

Tensions between Iran and Israel have escalated dramatically, with Iran launching a series of missile strikes across Israel in response to Israeli attacks on Iranian civilian and energy infrastructure.

The Iranian strikes, which targeted areas near Haifa and Tel Aviv, have reportedly killed at least 10 people, according to medics and local media.

The Iranian offensive comes after Israeli forces bombed several sites in Iran, including the Shahran oil facility in Tehran, which was set ablaze during the attacks.

The Israeli military has claimed that its operations targeted locations connected to Iran’s nuclear weapons program.

Iranian media report heavy casualties from the Israeli strikes over the past two days, with at least 80 people killed and 800 others injured. Among the dead are 20 children, according to Iranian sources.

The rapidly deteriorating situation has drawn international concern. U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he and Russian President Vladimir Putin are in agreement that the hostilities between Israel and Iran must come to an immediate end.

In a significant diplomatic setback, Iran has announced the cancellation of the sixth round of nuclear talks with the United States.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said there is "no justification" for continuing the negotiations while Israel‍‍`s attacks persist.

The latest exchanges mark one of the most dangerous escalations in the region in recent years, raising fears of a broader conflict.
