Iran has issued a stern warning to the United States, the United Kingdom, and France, threatening to strike their military bases and naval assets in the region if they provide support to Israel in repelling Iranian attacks.
According to The Telegraph, the warning came after U.S. officials confirmed on Friday that American forces had assisted in intercepting Iranian missiles aimed at Israel.
The interception was in response to a large-scale retaliatory strike launched by Tehran less than a day after a surprise Israeli attack on Iranian targets early Friday morning. The UK is not believed to have been involved in the missile defense operations.
Amid the escalating conflict, the British government is reportedly closely monitoring the safety of its embassy staff in Tehran, fearing potential retaliatory actions.
Both the United States and Canada have already closed their embassies in the Iranian capital as tensions continue to rise.
On Saturday, Iranian media reported that Israel conducted fresh airstrikes in Tehran and several other locations in western and northwestern Iran, reportedly targeting military bases and key defense sites.
The airstrikes reportedly hit the city of Tabriz as well as sites in Lorestan, Hamedan, and Kermanshah provinces.
