Iranian foreign minister heads to Russia for ‍‍`important talks‍‍` with president Putin

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that he is traveling to Russia today, Sunday, for a high-level meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin scheduled for Monday in Moscow. The discussions are expected to focus on key bilateral and regional issues.

Speaking at a press conference in Istanbul, Turkey, Araghchi emphasized the strong and strategic partnership between Tehran and Moscow.

"Russia is a friend of Iran. We are enjoying a strategic partnership. We always consult and coordinate with each other," he said.

The Iranian minister noted that tomorrow’s meeting with President Putin will involve "important discussions" and affirmed that cooperation between the two countries would continue.

In January, Russia and Iran signed a comprehensive partnership agreement aimed at strengthening their close strategic alliance.

However, the agreement does not include any provisions for mutual military defense in case either country comes under attack.

The upcoming talks are expected to further solidify the growing ties between the two nations amid ongoing geopolitical shifts in the region.
