Israel launches pre-emptive strike on Iran

Israel carried out what it called a “pre-emptive attack” on Iran early Saturday, triggering heightened security measures across the country.
 

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said the operation prompted the declaration of a “special and permanent state of emergency” nationwide, according to media reports.
 

Iranian outlets reported multiple explosions in the centre of Tehran, raising concerns over a possible escalation. 

The Fars News Agency said several missiles struck the Republic area of the capital, though details about damage or casualties were not immediately available.
 

There was no official response from Iran at the time of reporting, while regional and international observers closely monitored the rapidly developing situation.
