Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has warned of possible military action against India if the flow of the Indus River is disrupted.

Speaking on Pakistan’s Geo News on Friday, Asif stated that aggression isn‍‍`t limited to weapons—altering or obstructing a river’s flow is also a form of serious aggression.

“Such actions can trigger severe food and water crises, potentially leading to mass casualties,” he said. “If India constructs any dam or structure on the Sindh River that disrupts the water flow, we will be compelled to respond militarily. Strikes will target those very structures.”

He further noted that Pakistan is raising the issue on international platforms and closely monitoring the developments.

Tensions between the two nations have escalated following a deadly militant attack near Pahalgam in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. Five armed Islamist militants attacked tourists in Baisaran Valley, killing 28 civilians, most of whom were Hindus, reportedly targeted deliberately.

The Resistance Front (TRF), suspected to be a branch of the UN-designated terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba based in Pakistan, claimed responsibility. The group stated the attack was in retaliation against the Indian government’s policies that encourage non-local settlements in Kashmir.
