Russia has called for a political and diplomatic resolution to the ongoing Middle East conflict following a warning by US President Donald Trump over Iran and the Strait of Hormuz.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said the situation should move toward dialogue rather than further escalation.
“We believe the situation must shift to a political and diplomatic settlement,” he told reporters at a briefing.
Peskov added that diplomacy remains the only effective way to ease what he described as a “catastrophically tense” situation in the region.
The remarks came after Trump issued an ultimatum urging Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil route, raising fears of further escalation in the conflict.
