Iran’s former Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi has described the current situation in Iran as a significant opportunity for regime change, following Israel’s recent strikes that reportedly killed several senior Iranian military officials.
Speaking to the BBC, Reza Pahlavi, son of the late Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi who was overthrown during the Islamic Revolution of 1979, said the Iranian regime has now been critically weakened.
"The ultimate solution is regime change, and now we have an opportunity because this regime is at its weakest point," Pahlavi told the BBC.
He claimed that while the Iranian leadership is now more fragile, opposition forces within the country are more energized than ever before.
Pahlavi urged world leaders to stand firmly with the Iranian people in their fight for democracy, emphasizing that passive support is not enough.
"Leaders must clearly demonstrate that they are ready to take the next steps beyond just imposing sanctions to actively support the Iranian people`s struggle for democracy and freedom," he said.
Currently living in exile, Reza Pahlavi has consistently advocated for international support to bring down Iran`s ruling clerical government. In recent years, he has also made high-profile visits to Israel, signaling his outreach to various international actors.
Pahlavi’s comments come at a time of heightened tension in the region, with Iran’s internal stability being closely monitored following the loss of senior military figures.
