President Donald Trump has decided to suspend all military assistance to Ukraine following a heated dispute with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

This move was confirmed by a White House official in an exclusive statement to Reuters.

On Monday, the official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, explained that Trump’s decision was driven by his focus on peace. “President Trump has made it clear that his priority is peace. Our allies must also be committed to this objective,” the official said. “In order to ensure our contribution to a peaceful resolution, we have suspended our assistance and are reviewing it.”

The White House has not yet commented on how long this suspension will last, and the Pentagon has refused to provide further details.

Meanwhile, Zelensky’s office did not immediately respond to Reuters‍‍` request for comment.

Likewise, Ukraine’s embassy in Washington refrained from issuing any statements.

This development follows a shift in U.S. foreign policy under Trump, who, after taking office in January, softened his stance on Russia and took a more accommodating approach towards Moscow.

Last Friday, in a tense meeting at the White House, Trump sharply criticized Zelensky, accusing him of being insufficiently grateful for Washington’s support in Ukraine’s ongoing war with Russia.

On Monday, Trump reiterated his sentiment, saying that Zelensky should be more thankful for the support provided by the United States.

Trump’s frustration also boiled over earlier when he reacted to a statement by Zelensky, published by the Associated Press (AP). In the interview, Zelensky said, “The end of the war is still a long, long way off.”

Trump, unhappy with the comment, took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to express his discontent.

“This is the worst statement Zelensky could have made, and America will not tolerate this much longer!” Trump wrote.

As the situation unfolds, the future of U.S. military aid to Ukraine remains uncertain, with many watching closely for further developments.
